Has your Dodge Ram ProMaster City unexpectedly shifted into neutral without warning?
Does the transmission in your ProMaster vibrate, or not want to shift into gear?
Do the engine lights keep coming on?
These are a few of the transmission problems we have been hearing about from 2015 to 2018 Ram ProMaster City owners.
According to RepairPal.com, The Ram ProMaster 2500 Reliability Rating is 2.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 18th out of 21 for commercial vans. Both the frequency and severity of repairs is higher than normal, so the ProMaster 2500 is more likely to require major repairs when compared to other cars.
The ProMaster City van is not the only Dodge commercial vehicle or truck with defects such as severe loss of power, engine vibration, or engine failure. The Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has also experienced similar problems.
Other problems with your Dodge Ram that may qualify under the California Lemon Law include:
- Transmission leaks
- Fuel pump failure
- Electrical issues such as broken gauges, malfunctioning locks, remote start
Another Dodge with transmission problems is the Dodge Durango SUV, model years 2014-2016. These vehicles have a manufacturing defect that could cause the transmission to not fully engage in Park, which can result in a rollaway situation. The 8-speed automatic transfer cases were not properly machined and in some situations, the vehicle can slip out of Park and cause serious injury and/or property damage.
The California Lemon Law applies to three types of vehicles:
- New vehicles that are still covered by their original factory warranty, including the bumper to bumper warranty and the powertrain warranty.
- Certified pre-owned vehicles that are either still covered by their original factory warranty or they have a factory warranty that has been extended through the cerificaton process.
- Used vehicles that are still covered by their original factory warranty, including the bumper to bumper warranty and the powertrain warranty.
In order for us to win a lemon law case, we have to show that the factory authorized dealership has had repeated opportunities to repair to the vehicle, but they cannot actually repair the problem. The law only requires that you present the vehicle for repair; it does not require that the dealership verifies the complaint.
If you have taken your van in for repairs for the EXACT SAME problem four or more times during the factory warranty period, the vehicle may qualify for a lemon law buyback.
